uKhamba Ring

Zulu beer in a calabashe

The image above is of  uKhamba (calabashe) consisting of a Zulu beer. In isiZulu culture it is tradition that one makes Zulu beer when a Cow, goat, sheep and chicken is slaughtered.

KwaZulu ukhamba is placed at the ancestral room where impepho (incense) is burnt so that the ancestors can drink first the day before the ceremony. The next day everyone can then drink. Before ukhamba is given to guests a family member serving people with beer had to kneel down to show respect and drink first in front of those they are serving to show there is nothing poisonous in the

On the top view I am planning to set a citrine coloured cubic for contrast and to imitate the Zulu beer.
